My name is Laryssa and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Barrie, ON providing personal and mental health counselling services to individuals (16+) and couples across Ontario.
For the last 6 years, I have dedicated my personal and professional career to supporting others throughout various roles in both community and research settings, including completing an internship as a mental health counsellor at Georgian College. I have experience helping individuals in crisis and also have experience working with a wide range of presenting issues and client populations.
My primary focus in counselling is helping individuals struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship conflicts/issues, communication, self-esteem, and major life transitions. I am particularly passionate about working with "Millennials" (those in their 20s and 30s) to help them navigate the unique challenges that are faced during these ages and to help individuals live an authentic and meaningful life amidst all the changes and uncertainties that life throws at us.
Get in touch with me today to see if I am a good fit for you!
I view counselling as a collaborative journey in which you are the expert leading the way; I am merely here to help guide you by shining the light. I take an empathic, nonjudgemental and supportive stance to foster a safe and trusting relationship that will facilitate your emotional and mental growth. I am also a real person, meaning that I will be transparent and straightforward with you throughout our work together. Upon assessing your specific needs and presenting concerns, I may suggest various therapeutic techniques, but ultimately, you are in control and we will work together to determine what will work best for you.
Whatever the challenge, I will help you find clarity, build resilience, and enhance your coping skills to live the life you want to lead. When working with me, you can feel confident that I have your best interest at heart and am providing compassionate and dedicated care. I am devoted to providing a safe and comfortable atmosphere in which you can explore and overcome your challenges in a meaningful way.
Building an honest and open therapeutic relationship is important to me. I will always be straightforward with my approach, interventions, and opinions on certain matters.
I offer a down-to-earth and authentic approach that aims to make all clients feel valued, heard, and safe to be themselves, while also normalizing the challenges & vulnerabilities we face.
We are in this therapeutic journey together, and you are leading the way! I help empower and guide clients to make their own decisions, offering flexibility to my approach to suit their needs.
